Salmonella conflict tied to yellow papayas

Health officials have released a warning about a lethal salmonella outbreak related to a pleasant fruit.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says Caribena code yellow Maradol papayas have disgusted 47 people nationwide, CBS New York reports. Twelve patients have been hospitalized, including one in New York City who after died.

According to a CDC, 12 states have been affected, including 13 cases in New York, 12 in New Jersey and 6 in Virginia. Other states with cases of illness embody Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah.
